Phone Calls
All patients are encouraged to call our office during regular office hours with questions they may have concerning medical problems, surgical procedures, or test results. Our nursing staff has been trained to answer many of your questions, but in many cases, they will need to speak with your physician in order to fully answer your question or address your concerns and may need 24 hours to return your call.
If you find it necessary to contact your physician after normal office hours, please call the office number and you will be put in touch with our answering service who will reach the physician on call. One of our board certified neurologists is available for emergency call 24 hours a day. Please note, we do not refill prescriptions after hours.
All life threatening conditions should be treated at the nearest hospital emergency room. The hospital staff will contact your physician.
Test Results
Results from procedures, x-rays, or tests your physician has ordered are generally returned to our offices within one week. While some results can be given to you by the nursing staff, our physicians may prefer to discuss results with you personally at a scheduled appointment or in some cases over the phone. Therefore, when you wish to learn the outcome of your test, we request that you call the office and give both a day and evening phone number where you can be reached. Since our physicians spend daytime hours seeing patients in the office or performing surgery in the hospital, they may return calls later in the afternoon or early evening.
Prescription Refills
We encourage you to call your pharmacy and have the pharmacist call us during normal business hours for prescription refills. Please call well before you are out of your medication so that we have time to properly process your request. We ask that you allow at least 24 hours for the processing of any refill requests. If you have not seen your physician for some time, it may be necessary for you to come in for a visit before your physician can refill your medication. **Again, please note, we do not refill prescriptions after hours**.
Medical Records
The information contained in your medical record is strictly confidential. We value the trust you place in us to keep this information confidential and will not release information without your signed permission. If you wish to have a copy of your medical records, please call the office to have a release form sent to you. When we receive this completed form in our office, our copy service will send the records along with an invoice for the cost of preparing the copies for you. Please allow at least two weeks for this process.
